Texas added 2,100 nonfarm jobs in February, expanding the state’s employment for the 11th consecutive month, while the jobless rate in the Austin area fell one-tenth of a percentage point to a non-adjusted 3.1 percent.
Texas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 4.4 percent in February, down from 4.5 percent in January, and remained below the national average of 4.9 percent.
Austin’s unemployment rate remains second-lowest in the state. Amarillo recorded the month’s lowest unemployment level with a non-adjusted rate of 2.9 percent.
